In the summer of 2024, I was a summer band tech for Legacy High School, in my home town of Wichita Falls, Texas. Although the director of Legacy's program is my former director, this high school was in it's premier year, which presented it's own set of challenges. Because of that, there was the opportunity to set new expectations and build new communities, which I helped to cultivate. Through leading full group marching activities to small group
sectionals and even all
woodwind sectionals, I was
able to experience what it
truly means to be an
educator for the first time
in the field that I desire.
I had to think quickly,
figure out how to explain
concepts in an applicable
way, and keep the material
engaging and fun, especially
as the energy levels fluctuated throughout camp.
